First Post - Leonard Knittel

My name is Leonard, and I am a junior in the BS/MS program.  I have not had much experience with intelligent buildings, except for reading articles about them when I come across them.  In this class I expect to learn much more about what intelligent buildings are and what types of systems they use.  I expect several group projects where we have to research existing examples of intelligent buildings, or current systems used in them.

I would define an intelligent building as a building which can change its environment, structure or some other aspect, to react to conditions in and around itself in order to make the environment more comfortable for its inhabitants or to achieve some other goal, such as reduced operating costs.
