Hi guys,
My name is Drew Sivertsen and I am a senior pursuing a dual civil and architectural engineering degree with a concentration in digital buildings. I have had a few experiences with digital buildings and BIM throughout my Drexel career in the classroom as well as real world experiences. I've taken two architecture studio classes where we utilized Revit to create full scale building models (welcome center and art studio). In my three co-ops, I was given the opportunity to implement AutoCAD and Revit to support a wide variety of design projects. While most were roadway/transportation design, I did implement CAD to aid engineers in building facade replacement and repairs which proved to be a quick and through approach to solving the problem.
In this class, I hope to learn much more about technologies that will further advance digital buildings and BIM implementations.
Initially, I believed the definition of digital buildings to be "smart" building that was fully capable of maintaining and running itself with no human monitoring. Essentially being a self-sustainable structure with the ability to run multiple processes.
