Post 1 - About Me - Taylor Castonguay
My name is Taylor Castonguay and I am an Architectural Engineering BS/MS student with a Mechanical Engineering concentration. My graduate degree will also be in Architectural Engineering but with more specific focuses on indoor air quality and building energy.
I have had some experience working with BIM software. Specifically, I have worked with Revit and TRACE 700. Along with learning Revit in school, I have used it for both of the two co-ops I have experienced thus far. I completed both co-ops at KlingStubbins, now Jacobs Engineering, in the HVAC department. About 75% of the work I did there was with Revit. In my second co-op I also learned how to use TRACE 700, an energy modeling software. I used this program to help perform an energy analysis on a large office building.
In this class, I hope to learn even more about BIM. I know a decent amount about Revit but because it is such a complicated program, there is so much more for me to learn. I would also like to learn about other popular forms of BIM.
To me, intelligent building is creating something in the most efficient way possible. Intelligent buildings are of great interest to me because I hope to work in the energy efficient building industry in my future.
