B4 - Giovana Pelisser - Project Plan

Cities are the major responsible for the consumption of materials, water and energy, thus reasonable to think that in the near future, will continue to produce great negative impacts on the environment. Energy systems, lights, water, lifts, power and cooling: all contribute to making buildings a source of greenhouse gas emissions - and major energy users. According to the website of the IMB, today in America they account for 70% of energy consumption.
Green buildings are sustainable buildings, constructed and operated to minimize the environmental impacts. Green buildings are, most often, intelligent buildings, but this does not mean that the reverse is true. Technology is not always used in a sustainable manner. However, more and more companies are realizing that the best option is use natural resources carefully.
An intelligent building should promote comfort to users, security and especially economy, both economy in direct costs such as water, electricity, telephone, and so forth, and economy in indirect costs such as maintenance and operation. The term is used in intelligent building new applications for commercial or residential buildings, but came to be used in a very generic way to any building that has a minimum of technological advancement.
Thus, our group chose as a topic for the project "Green and Intelligent Buildings" and we will try to show the differences and similarities between them, as well as how they both work, through models designed with the help of software Revit.
Some similarities between them is the use of natural resources available (natural ventilation and lighting, for example, instead of conditioning and artificial lighting during the day), energy efficiency, management and water savings, waste management, air quality and indoor environment, thermal and acoustic comfort, and the rational use of materials.
Sustainable buildings need an intelligent network that is connected to fire protection, electronic safety and electrical installation systems, offering protection, comfort and reliability to users and reducing energy consumption in industries, offices and homes. An ecological house can represent a huge potential for energy efficiency and is fundamental to the sustainable development of green cities. The building automation and management of lighting as part of a green building reduces energy consumption without sacrificing comfort of the residents.
Therefore, we believe this work is to clarify some points about buildings, as well as stay in touch with BIM platform, and understand the benefits, both economic and environmental, related to green construction and intelligent buildings.

Comments:
Anthony Yau: very interesting topic. They will develop the multiple systems of the community center designed to accommodate families with children Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They will use Revit  to enhance the conceptual design and construction.
Lenny Knittel: they will talk about green construction on a very important building in the area, the Bullitt Center, with LEED certification, and also to examine green architecture in office buildings, and how they can Improve with more "intelligent" features in the next few years.
Hamad Al-Sulaiti:  different topic, it will be about hyperspectral remote sensing technology, a type of sensing technology that detects dimensions by reflecting radiation in an electromagnetic spectrum. I do not know anything about this topic, but seems to be very interesting.
